Three coaches of Ujjain Express derailed near Yog Nagari Railway Station in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, on Monday night, news agency ANI reported.

Train number 14317 Lakshmibai Nagar-Yog Nagari Express was undergoing routine maintenance at Yog Nagari Rishikesh Yard in Khand Village area when the accident took place around 10 am. It was an empty rake, and hence, no passengers were hurt, said a senior official of Moradabad Division told indianexpress.com.

The accident did not impact the main line, and the train services continued smoothly, said the official

As crowds gathered at the site following the incident, the Government Railway Police (GRP) cleared the spot.

According to initial findings, the train’s brakes failed during routine maintenance.
